Inspired Artist: Tony Bevilacqua

Magicsnowman1 Magicsnowman2 I stumbled across the work of Tony Bevilacqua on etsy the other day, and I am totally and completely head over heels in love!  There is something eerie and unsettling about his pieces but they are not gloomy or foreboding.  There seems a delicate balance between tension and irony... and I think it really works.  Very Michael Sawa, in my opinion.

What do you think?

...and Tony, if you read this... please, please consider making prints of your fabulous work for poor girls (and guys) like me.

I Love You Mom!

This is a couple days early, but I thought I'd extend the humiliation (my hair really did look like that) to span the entirety of the weekend * wink *.

Mothersday I love you Mom!  You are such an incredible woman and have brought so much love and joy to my life!  One of the many wonderful things about you is your infectious sense of fun and playfulness.  You're never one to just sit back and watch the rest of us make a fool of ourselves (hehe)... you always jump right in with us!   It's such a delight to have a mom who will do that!  So thank you for that, and all that you are Mom... I love you!

Happy Mother's Day!

Melissa loves: Jen Renninger

Happy Friday everyone!  I'm so glad you're here because I am very excited to introduce the first of an ongoing Friday series here on CC, featuring the thoughts and finds of a long-time CC reader: Melissa!

Each week Melissa will be sharing her top picks from indie artist's and designers from around the web, with emphasis on the inspiration behind her favorite pieces.  I love Melissa's point of view, and I hope you will too.  So, please give her a warm welcome in the comment section below.  And now...

Melissa Loves:
Melissaloves59_2
"I Will Gather the Stars for You" by Jen Renninger, (please see all three pieces from this collection here).

I was so inspired by Jen Renninger and her beautiful work (after spotting her work over on S.HOPtalk blog)  that I contacted her and asked what inspired this series and how they made her feel when she looked at them.  Jen is as lovely and thoughtful as her gorgeous work and got right back to me about what was behind it all.

To me Jen's piece meant: clear, starry summer nights, twinkling, beauty, mystery, devotion. For Jen these pieces mean: protectiveness (the polar bear), mystery (the bird), beauty jewel-like (the butterflies), strength (the buck).

Jen says she has words and  phrases(or mantras) that she collects and then waits for the right image to come to mind that fits with those phrases.  For this piece, she said that she'd "been wanting to do an illustration of a polar bear for some time, and first began with the celestial "net" (it reminded her of the Aurora Borealis...)."  She then "thought it might be interesting to hide the bear behind it, like a shield from it's possible (probable) extinction."

I truly love hearing about an artist's inspiration and it in turn makes the piece mean that much more to me.  I hope you enjoy Jen's work and the other pieces I've found. I love the idea that Jen inspiring me, led to my discovery of other beautiful finds that I hope will inspire all of you!  xo Melissa

4. Sequin Earrings by Erica Weiner

This must be the year of the super bug, because last weekend my daughter was struck with a nasty cold, the week before that I had food poisoning, and now as I type this I am downing vitamins like nobody's business to stave off a horrid sore throat that I developed last night.  I can't be sick for Mother's Day... that would be too sad!  Send me positive thoughts lovelies... I can use 'em right now!

Newblogs In any case, I want to announce a new addition to my blog link gallery (in the left-hand column): Wedding Blogs A-Z!  I know they may not apply to all of your lives, but I hope they are helpful for those of you who are interested.  I'd love to expand on what I've started, so if you know of a great wedding blog that I've not included please feel free to email me with the link and I will try to add it to the gallery a.s.a.p.!

Oh, and I hope you'll stop by tomorrow... there's something new that I'm excited to share with you all.  See you then!

Eleanorhardwickinspiratio THE INSPIRATION:

Pinkandgreen When I discovered the photographic talent of Eleanor Hardwick the other day I was transfixed (can you believe she's only 14)!  This image in particular really grabbed me, and it in turn inspired this post.
