Happy Friday everyone! I'm so glad you're here because I am very excited to introduce the first of an ongoing Friday series here on CC, featuring the thoughts and finds of a long-time CC reader: Melissa!
Each week Melissa will be sharing her top picks from indie artist's and designers from around the web, with emphasis on the inspiration behind her favorite pieces. I love Melissa's point of view, and I hope you will too. So, please give her a warm welcome in the comment section below. And now...
Melissa Loves:

"I Will Gather the Stars for You" by Jen Renninger, (please see all three pieces from this collection here).
I was so inspired by Jen Renninger and her beautiful work (after spotting her work over on S.HOPtalk blog) that I contacted her and asked what inspired this series
and how they made her feel when she looked at them. Jen is as lovely and thoughtful as her gorgeous work and
got right back to me about what was behind it all.
To me Jen's piece meant: clear, starry summer nights, twinkling, beauty, mystery, devotion. For Jen these pieces mean: protectiveness (the polar bear), mystery (the bird), beauty jewel-like (the butterflies), strength (the buck).
Jen says she has words and phrases(or mantras) that she collects and then waits for the right image to come
to mind that fits with those phrases. For this piece, she said that she'd "been wanting to do an illustration of a polar bear for some time, and first
began with the celestial "net" (it reminded her of the Aurora Borealis...)." She then "thought it might be
interesting to hide the bear behind it, like a shield from it's possible (probable) extinction."
I truly love hearing about an artist's inspiration and it in turn makes
the piece mean that much more to me. I hope you enjoy Jen's work and the
other pieces I've found. I love the idea that Jen inspiring me, led to
my discovery of other beautiful finds that I hope will inspire all of you! xo
