Tea & Talk: Lisa Solomon

Hello sweet friends!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in the states and it makes me think of all the things I am thankful for...One of those things is all of you. You make my days so very bright, make me laugh and feel right at home. I am so grateful to be a part of this lovely community of readers, bloggers, creators and friends.I hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow(whether you are celebrating or not) and I will see you back here on Friday! I want to say a special thank you to Suzanne, Holly, Traci and Karey for making me feel extra special these past couple of days and a huge hug to all of you. A HUGE hug to all of YOU and now...Are you ready for today's special Tea & Talk? Get your mug o' comfort, pull up a comfy chair and welcome the lovely and incredibly sweet Lisa! She  is so multi-talented, where to begin? First there is her beautiful artwork( I love this, this and this!), her terrific shop( so many cute bags, tees, jewelry and cards)and then there is her lovely flickr page! Plus, isn't she absolutely adorable? Take it away Lisa! :)

Lisa-1 Melis's questions:

1. 3 living things you treasure
1. my husband and family
2. my dogs [I have 2]
3. my cats [I have 2]

2. 3 non-living things that you treasure
1. my studio
2. a recently acquired photo of my grandmother when she was a child in the
20's
3. my wedding ring

3. favorite time of the year and why
This is hard. I like every season for a different reason... Since we're in
fall I'll just say that I am loving the shift of light this time of year.
It's a little more yellow orange - and the shadows are more intense. As it
gets cloudy and cold the days of sunlight seem sweeter.

4. favorite things to wear
Jeans and vintage pieces

5. are you a perfume wearer ? If yes, which one? / top 3 favorite smells:
I don't really wear perfume, but I do have a soft spot for that old fragrance tea rose

6. favorite animal
Too hard! I love giraffes, hippos, elephants....

7. top three events in your life (so far)
Oh my goodness this is hard - I guess I'll go for life changing big events
Getting married, buying a house, finishing graduate school

8. top three favorite small pleasures
1. a good latte with amazing foam
2. good smells coming from the kitchen
3. comfortable and cozy slippers

9. top 3 favorite places in the world( you have visited or would like to visit)
1. tokyo
2. amsterdam
3. I'd really like to go to spain, sweden, portugal - and there's so much of
the US I haven't seen... I'd go practically anywhere -

10. top 3 favorite sounds
1. rain
2. purring cat
3. chirping birds in the morning

11. top 3 favorite things to eat
1. sushi
2. anything that my husband makes for me
3. sweet mochi treats

12. 3 favorite favorites right now! (from etsy or elsewhere)
1. total wish list - the dia rug

2. photos by abby tries again

3. cool rings from the carrot box

13. 3 small ways someone has made your day lately
Lately I have been so touched by emails and gifts from my blogworld friends.
It astounds me how well they know me, how encouraging they are, and how
sincere and kind they are. It's more than 3 small things.

14. 3 small habits/quirks you have that make you specifically you!
Hmmm.... Habits/quirks.... It's hard to figure this out about yourself.
1. I giggle and laugh at a lot of things. Some things that might seem like
they aren't funny. I find humor in some pretty odd places - at least this is
what I've been told
2. I have a funny left over from childhood superstition that you shouldn't
walk with one shoe on and one shoe off. I don't even know where this comes
from, but I've hopped across a room to get to my other shoe instead of
calmly walking to it. [why one shoe was across the room is also a mystery,
but...]
3. I cross my eyes and stick my tongue out when people try to take a photo
of me. It's my immediate instant reflex when a lens is pointed my way

Lisa-2 Ez's Questions:
15.-Describe your life using 6 words maximum (for each time frame).
PAST: PRESENT: FUTURE:
I feel like similar words apply.... Excitement, confusion, searching,
repetition, making, dreaming

16. You are truly passionate about indie and handmade goods, tell us how that interest was formed:
My grandmother was ALWAYS making things with her hands. always. Through her
I first discovered the beauty of the handmade. I was given objects that
embodied love. When I was young my mom always encouraged me to make crafty
gifts. She would help me make assembly line productions and definitely
nurtured the idea that hand crafted items meant more than store bought ones.

17. favorite books, films, and music... list 3 of your favorites in each category here:
Books: anything by herman hesse, the history of love by nicole krauss, I
know this is cliché but catcher in the rye
Films: anything with audrey hepburn, a room with a view, cliché again...
amelie
Music: neko case, cat power, tom waits

18. Name 3 words that you can't stand, and 3 that you love:
Can't stand [more for their meaning than the words themselves] :  owe,
inequality, close-minded
love: mundane, effervescent, graceful

19. What are a few of the goals you have for your future and how do you plan on making them a reality?
I'm at a point where I'm trying not to think about long term goals. I really
just want to continue to find a way to make my art and make a living and
contribute something to society [even if it's small].

20. What is the best piece of advice you've ever heard?
I can't think of one singular great piece of advice but if you put me on the
spot I think maybe the golden rule is pretty great. Just do unto others as
you would have done unto you.

21.  what is your favorite quote and why?
One of my favorite quotes: "The imperfect is our paradise." Wallace Stevens
It's just so short and sweet and true to me. I think we undervalue and
misjudge the imperfect. There is much beauty and much to be learned there.

Thanks so much ladies. These questions really made me think!
Hope you have a great day!!
xo
