New * New * New

I've recently updated both Wren Eleven and Wren & Chickadee with these limited edition Paper Doll No.1 gocco prints of mine.Paperdolls

They are so much fun... here's how they work:

First I began by drawing the girl and then printing her in black ink onto dusty gray cardstock. I then cut out the design of her dress with an x-acto knife so that when she is placed onto the background of your choice (paper, fabric, etc.) it shows through and creates a one-of-a-kind art piece that can be changed as frequently as you wish!  In these pictures I've used a vintage children's book illustration and the cover of a children's book.  Check out the web shops for more examples and ideas!

This print is a limited edition run of only 30 prints (signed and dated). The screen was destroyed, so once they're gone, they are gone for good!

Newwreneleven Also, be sure to check out some of the other fabulous new products I just added to Wren Eleven.  There is more to be added shortly (including gift certificates!) so keep an eye out for that!

Creature Comforts readers receive 10% off any order of $20 & up at Wren Eleven!  Just use promo code "comfort-07" at checkout to redeem!  Offer expires 12-20-07

Give Thanks...

Hello lovelies!  I'll be away for the holiday and will be back with things to share with you all on Monday.  Have a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday in whatever way you celebrate it.Thankful

In my family we love to sit around the table with stomaches fully gorged, and share the things that we are thankful for with one another.  Inspired by this tradition, I've created these simple little "I am Thankful For" index cards for you to print and share with your family and friends.

Thank you all for making blogging so lovely!

5 Things...

397173405_6ba782631a I was tagged  by the lovely Kat Heyes to share five random / weird facts about myself with all of you in Blogland.  So... here you go:

1.  Every year my decorations for the holidays get brighter and brighter.  This year I expect my house to look like Candyland blew up all over it!

2.  I have a completely juvenile fear of someone injuring my while I'm in the shower... it makes it hard to wash my face, because that's when I feel the most vulnerable.  Oh, and I'm also freaked out by people running up the stairs after me.  As a kid I would break down in a shuddering sobbing mass when my sister would do this (much to her delight of course)!

3. I can let most things roll off my shoulders, but the one thing that I cannot understand is ignorant people.  I don't expect the whole world to agree, but how hard is is to put yourself in another person's shoes, and attempt to educate yourself and respect the beauty that lies in the differences between us.  Humph!

4. Five words I like: Mirage, Merit, Tentative, Inordinate, Serene
Five words I don't (not including the ones I'll not say here): Swarm, Moist, Eviscerate, Apathy, Hate

5. I think each of us should come with a soundtrack.  Everything is so much more vibrant with music.  Just try turning the volume off during the most poignant scene in your favorite movie, and watch how it becomes tragically mundane!  What would be the theme song for your life?

Thanks for tagging me Kat... that was fun.

I usually don't tag people, because I never want anyone to feel pressured to comply, but if you're up for it... I tag:

-Blushing Apples
-Athena Says
-Abigail A. Percy
-Imogene
-My Folk Lover

The rules are:

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.

2. Share 5 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.

3. Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

And the Winner is...

A surprisingly small amount of you attempted for the Season 3 Project Runway DVD giveaway... but that upped the odds for everyone who did, so it is a-okay!

I used this Die Roller and came up with 6 (counting up from the first comment)... and so that means Katie... you're the winner!

But Project Runway  wouldn't be such a fan favorite without all those twists?!  So, in the spirit of the show... I actually have two copies of the DVD to give away, so I randomly rolled again (a 7 this time) and the second winner is Jaime!

If you are a winner, email me with your mailing info and I'll have your DVD out to you pronto!

Thanks for playing everyone... and happy Project Runway Wednesday to you all!

Inspired Artist: Nancy Bevins

Nancybevins1 Nancybevins2 Nancybevins3 On a browse around etsy the other day I discovered the wool felted creations of Nancy Bevins and was instantly captivated.  Needle-felting is a technique that involves a process of "rolling or bunching carded wool into a tight form, then poking it with a very long barbed needle. This intertwines the wool together. With enough pokes, it tightens up. The more you stab, the tighter the form will be."  Nancy uses wool from her own sheep and goats, which she and her children shear, wash, pick, card and dye by hand!

It's the size and complexity of each of her pieces that really impresses me.  I can't even imagine the time and dedication that her art form must take.

For more information on Nancy Bevins and her work, visit her official site: Motley Mutton.  And to purchase her pieces, check out her etsy site or ebay listings.
