I first saw Tamar's work in one of the very first issues of Blueprint magazine a little over a year ago. I thought: "WHO makes that? How can I find out more about her work?" I began trying to track her down and began to covet everything she makes! I love that Tamar's work is whimsy for everyone! Perhaps most often chosen for a child's room but, for me, chosen for the child still very much ensconced in my heart. :) It is the little things for me, the tiny details, the beautiful fabrics and the sense of humor inherent in each piece. For Tamar they begin with something simple, creating a story for herself, often inspired by a favorite memory from her childhood. For example, Avocados waiting to sprout in a cup on a windowsill, the roots of the plants she tended to when she worked as a gardener. Attention to detail gets me every time and Tamar is all about detail. Each piece is even more beautiful in person as you can see all the tiny stiches or threads purposefully left attached. On this particular one, the stork, you can even see a tiny little fabric stamp on the lovely bag she is carrying in her mouth. For Tamar, she looks at this piece and feels a sense of calm... I look at it and think about the love between mother and child, serenity and hope. How about you? Thank you Tamar for your beautiful and inspiring work. It has brightened my life.
